If the seal between your respirator and skin is compromised, dangerous particles can bypass the filter. Here’s how to ensure your respirator always performs at its best:
Pre-Fitting Preparations
Clean & Clear:
Make sure your face is clean and free from any facial hair in the sealing area. Facial hair, even stubble, can interrupt the seal. Additionally, tie back any long hair and remove jewellery that could interfere with a snug fit.
Step-by-Step Fitting Instructions
Shape Your Respirator:
Start with the respirator facing the wrong side up. Gently pull apart the top and bottom panels using the built-in tab, forming a cup shape. Slightly bend the centre of the nose clip to set its curvature.
Fully Unfold the Panels:
Ensure that both panels are completely open, providing full coverage and maximum filtration.
Position It Correctly:
Hold the respirator in one hand with the open side directed towards your face.With your other hand, grasp both straps, position the respirator under your chin (with the nosepiece facing upward), and pull the straps over your head.
Secure the Straps:
Check that the upper strap rests evenly on the crown of your head while the lower strap sits neatly below your ears. Avoid any twisting of the straps. Adjust the panels as needed to balance comfort with a secure fit.
Mould the Nose Clip:
Using both hands, carefully shape the nose clip to follow the contours of your nose. This two-handed approach ensures a consistent and reliable seal.
Conduct a Fit-Check:
Without disturbing the positioning of the respirator, cover its front with both hands:
For unvalved models, exhale forcefully.
For valved models, inhale sharply.
