The Petzl Volt Wind is ideal for fast, convenient, and comfortable tower and tube work such as wind turbines. The lightweight mesh jacket mean it's very easy to put on (no twisted webbing to deal with, just put in on like you would a jacket!), whilst the quick release (fast) buckles on the waist and legs and doubleback buckles make it speedy to put on/off too.
The harness is suitably equipped for moving around inside a wind turbine as it is fitted with dorsal (rear) wear protectors which protect the webbing from being rubbed up against the wind turbine body.
Unlike the Avao range, the waist and sternal (chest) attachment points are soft loops, with the waist 'ladder climb' attachment distributes the load on the waistbelt ensuring optimal comfort during progression. This ladderclimb attachment point also incorporates a tear out section which, in the event of a fall, results in the waist attachment point ripping upwards to leave the harness user suspended in a much more upright position (rather than being pivoted at the waist), this is designed for, and will be popular with, vertical rail or cable users.
The harness is equipped with fold-away metal side Ds (prevents snagging when not in use) which can be used for work positioning, and an optional Volt Harness Seat can be combined with the harness for added comfort, ideal when suspended in one location for any period of time. It also features scaffold hook parking points on each shoulder strap which help keep any lanyard used with the harness out of the way when not in use. In the event of a fall when just one scaffold hook is connected, these stowage points are designed to release allowing the fall arrest lanyard to full deploy (prevents 'short-circuiting', a situation when a lanyard cannot fully deply because it is clipped back incorrectly). Two loops around the hip area allow tool bags to be clipped onto the harness for easy access to tools.
